2002 Suzuki FX 650 Freewind

Owner: Dusan Todorovic,
Belgrade, Serbia

Purchased: Summer of 2006. It is almost new, although I'm the third owner. The fellow that I bought it from owns a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 now.

Comments: “It is almost untouched. But first owner had a minor accident and the bike was scratched on right side, the rear brake paddle twisted and the right mirror fell off. An aftermarket (higher) windscreen (prolonged one) was installed by the first owner.

The second owner of the bike painted all the parts that were originally Dark Blue in Metallic Black. Then I bought it. It has 22,000 km on the meter now.

I have already ordered new mirrors that will be installed later. The rear brake paddle isn't replaced; just stretched back in original (more or less) shape. It has a 42-liter plastic top case. I plan to get matching side cases as well — and put some crash (roll) bars and wind stoppers for hands...

I'm very satisfied with bike. It is easy to handle and great for beginners. It isn't nervous; it doesn't demand high revs, you can ride it with low gas; but if you give it a little more throttle it responds happily.

It's great in the city. Thanks to the high riding position you can see over cars and spot troubles in time. It's comfortable both in cities and on open roads but you need a high wind shield for longer trips.

Do not expect too much speed. It has a 650 cc single cylinder engine — it is not a racing bike. If it was a car it would be a diesel model compared to a gasoline model”

1985 Suzuki GS 550 E

Owner: Douglas Nickl,
Mahwah, New Jersey, USA

Comments: “I purchased the bike in June 2006 at a garage sale in poor running condition with 18,500 miles and clear title.

Here is the list of the work I've done on the bike:

· Worked on carburetors by cleaning them and replacing carburetor manifold O-rings. They had to be replaced because they were sucking air which prevented the engine from running correctly.

· Re-jetted carburetors back to factory sizes 102.5 for the inners 95 for outer cylinders.

· Purchased the correct fuel tank and side covers from Ebay. Bike came with side covers and fuel tank for an '83.

· Replaced drive chain. Old one was stretched.

· Replaced stator and regulator with the Electro-sport stator and regulator. Charging great now!

· Installed an additional ground wire from battery to frame. Bikes had a poor grounding system.

· Replaced starter solenoid. Old one was working intermittently.

· Replaced front brake lever contact slider for rear brake light. Old one was worn out.

· Installed a HeliCoil for the crankcase oil drain plug. Old one was stripped out.

· Replaced the front sprocket to a 16 tooth to get a lower RPM at highway speeds. Bike cruises very nicely at 65—70 mph.

· Usual tune up maintenance

My bike is really running great now and I commute with it to work almost every day. After doing the work that I did it is now the best running bike I've ever owned. We were very lucky that the previous owners did not fool with the motor itself. I really enjoy it because it is a middle weight size which enables me to handle it a lot easier than a large bike like a 750cc and up. With what I've learned by working on the bike I believe the GS series Suzuki’s are the best bikes they made. The bikes were known to have electrical problems but with the Electro-sport products all the problems have been resolved.”

1966 Suzuki T 20

Owner: Jeff Hathaway,
New Zealand

Comments: “I thought you might like to see some photos of my Suzuki T20 which I bought Brand new early 1966. It was one of the 1st 3 that came to the country New Zealand South Island.

I bought it from Tom McCleary Motorcycles in Christchurch and owned it for about a year. It cost £295.00 NZ.

I was 16 years old at the time and did some standing and flying 1/4 miles South Canterbury Motorcycle Club and recorded 15.9 and 101mph in a streamlined position!”
