2002 Suzuki GSX1400

Owner: Dave Elgar,
Waikato, New Zealand

Comments: ”I have owned my bike for nearly two years and absolutely love it. I have done over 25,000 kms on it. All I have done to it is fit a K&N air filter and had the white wheels polished on the outsides of the rims and painted the centres dark blue to match the tank. I run Metzeler Z6 tyres which I find suit the bike really well.

My wife and I are going to ride down to Ruapuna in the south island in March to the John Britten memorial which is also the fifth & final round of the NZ national road racing series. We are lucky in NZ to still have two races on the streets in two different towns. It is called the battle of the streets.

The first round is on Boxing Day in Wanganui and the second round is in a little town called Paeroa. They are awesome to watch as you get to stand on the side of the road behind fences or hay bales & watch the latest Superbikes screaming past.

I am a motorcycle salesman for the local Honda shop. Our apprentice mechanic has been racing Supermotard and doing really well so we have bought him an 05 CRF450R and turned it into a Supermotard bike for the series which he is really looking forward to.”

2003 Suzuki GSX1400

Owner: Peter Wood,
Nottingham, England

Comments: ”I started r iding motorbikes when I was 16. I am now 65 and retired. This is the best bike I have ever owned, having ridden all kinds of bikes, from 50cc Hondas to GSX-R1100s.

It is the Metallic Silver GSX1400 K3 bought new in December 2003. I really do like the standard setup with its four-into-two exhaust system and bulging pots.

It is all stock except for a club chrome cooler (GSX1400.org), a Fenda Extenda and a hugger to put on yet.I'm also looking for a clear mini screen. There is ultra-seal in both tyres. ”

2001 Suzuki GSX1400

Owner: Brian Bohn, US Air Force,
stationed at Okinawa, Japan

Comments: ”I have owned my GSX1400 since August 2005.  I am 40 years old and have been riding bikes since I was a young teenager.

I have owned quite a few bikes over 1000cc, including a V-Max, GSX-R1100, KZ1000 and KZ1300 but the GSX is in a class of it's own.  Great comfort and monster torque, what more could you want!

Some of the modifications I have made to my GSX include:
  • R's Gear Wyvern Sonic Rainbow Titanium exhaust
  • Hardy Racing bars
  • Agras Undertail kit
  • Custom turn signals
  • BMC air Filter
  • Dynojet Power Commander III USB
  • Anodized blue/engraved torque bar
  • Galfer wavy front brake rotors
  • Goodridge F/R brake lines and clutch line
  • K's Supply Rainbow Titanium fork deflectors
I have a little over 25,000 km on my bike and it's running great.  It could use a bit more tuning on the Power Commander though. I have a few more modifications planned in the future such as Yoshimure Stage 1 Camshafts, new paint, rear Galfer Wavy Brake Rotor and, maybe, Gale Speed Wheels if money permits!”

2004 Suzuki GSX1400

Owner: Baz Smith,
L incolnshire, UK

Comments: ”I have sent a couple of picture of Ben just prior to a 1,000 mile weekend trip. My bike, 'Ben,' is a 2004 GSX1400, here's my thoughts:

I have owned it for 2 months with 3,000 miles at purchase. Cant keep off the bike hence I have covered some 4,500 miles in just eight weeks!

I am really impressed, superb engine, handling, stability and what a load carrier, wife and set of GIVI luggage fully laden, 90 mph+, no sweat.

Mods include Scorpion carbon cans (run without the baffles), hugger, belly pan, latest GIVI screen, (makes such a difference at high speed, now 100mph is comfortable on motorways), crash bars and shortly a custom made seat and a few engine mods.

Not to sure about the Bridgestones, anyone got thoughts on alternatives?. Planning a seven country tour of Europe, (again, last time on a Triumph Trophy), cant wait. As far as value presence, performance and general appearance its the best bike ever.

Downside, well a bit of corrosion in parts and that seat is not the most comfortable but maybe any bike with the mileage I am doing would be the same.”
