Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
3rd generation, 2021 onwards

I have tried to tell the Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa model history on this page as I know it. This page is still under construction. 2021 Suzuki year code: M1

A new, upgraded Suzuki Hayabusa was introduced in February 5th, 2021. The earlier generation of the bike was certified to Euro3 standards, and since Euro4 was brought in in 2016 the Hayabusa had been living on borrowed time and was withdrawn from several markets. Ignoring minor updates, there have been two previous generations of the bike – the original 1999 model with 173 hp and the 2008 model that raised capacity from 1299cc to 1340cc and upped power to 195 hp. The third genaration of Hayabusa has been completely reworked, retaining the spirit and much of the hardware of the old model but with a brand-new look and an engine that, having skipped Euro4 entirely, now meets Euro5 rules. The 2021 model, that meets emissions requirements, peaks at 190 hp (140kW) and 9700 rpm. Having considered various options including a six-cylinder engine, a larger-capacity four and even a turbo version of the bike, Suzuki instead opted to keep the same 1340cc four-cylinder engine with roots in the original 1999 model, and to use the same 81 mm bore and 65 mm stroke that was introduced in 2008. Forced to comply with Euro5 rules, a drop in power was almost inevitable. Torque, which previously peaked at 155 Nm (113.6 lb-ft) at 7200rpm, now tops out at 150 Nm (110.6 lb-ft) at 7000rpm. Top speed of the new model, like every Busa apart from the very first examples, is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph). While the chassis is the same as before, it features a revised seat subframe that cuts 700g from its weight and uses updated versions of the previous model's 43mm KYB forks and shock. Brembo provides its Stylema calipers for the front brakes, gripping 320mm discs – 10mm larger than before and with a new cross-drilled pattern to improve cooling. The wheels are new seven-spoke alloys, wearing specially developed Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres. The new Hayabusa is styled to make it as slippery through the air as possible. Its grips are a half-inch closer to the rider, making for a noticeably more relaxed and upright riding position. However, the added rider comfort makes it more challenging from an aero perspective; it required months of wind-tunnel testing to keep the new Hayabusa's wind coefficient to the same level as the previous version. Suzuki engineers were ruthless in their quest for efficiency; for example, there are no protruding turn signals—they're entirely built into the bodywork. The mirrors also came under intense scrutiny. The new Suzuki Hayabusa that was introduced in February 5th, 2021, was launched in some countries as 2022-year's model. In UK, Suzuki released a new white paintjob for 2022 to keep the Hayabusa looking fresh. The 2023 Hayabusa colors were revealed in June 2022. For 2023, the international-spec Suzuki Hayabusa is offered in three new dual-tone colour shades. They are Pearl Vigour Blue / Pearl Brilliant White (JWN), Metallic Matte Black / Glass Sparkle Black (KGL) and Metallic Thunder Gray / Candy Daring Red (CJH). Technically, the 2023 GSX1300R Hayabusa remains unchanged.

2022 Suzuki year code: M4

A 25th Anniversary Edition of the Suzuki Hayabusa was launched in April 2023 with a Glass Blaze Orange / Glass Sparkle Black color scheme. The special version of the Gen-III Hayabusa has anniversary emblems and logos placed appropriately on the motorcycle while select components have a special gold-anodized finish, and the iconic solo seat cowl is included.   The Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition was marketed as 2024 year's model. The three 2023 year's Hayabusa colors remained in the catalogue even in 2024.
