I have tried to tell the Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa model history on this page as I know it. This page is still under construction. 2008 Suzuki year code: K8

The Hayabusa received its first major redesign in 2008. While it had a new look, it was still an evolution of the original bike under the new skin. The engine received a great deal of internal work to comply with tightening Euro 3 emission standards, and the new exhaust incorporated a catalytic converter for the first time. Displacement increased to 1,340 cc, and horsepower was up to 194. The brakes, clutch, and steering also received upgrades. In some countries, Suzuki dropped the GSX-1300R designation and simply called the model the Hayabusa, which makes a certain amount of sense considering how different the 'Busa was from the rest of the GSX line. The 2008 Hayabusa has a thoroughly updated engine for more power and an improved power-to-weight ratio, delivering an even greater rush of acceleration. Refined chassis and suspension. For an extra $300 above the $13,999 price of the standard model, LE versions come in Candy Sonoma Red. fter purchase and registration of an LE, Suzuki would send a commemorative placard, designed to fit on the front tank bolt, featuring the registered owner's name and production number of the bike (out of 583). Owners also recieved a special backpack.

The 2013 Suzuki Hayabusa was the first in Suzuki’s sportsbike range to feature an Antilock Brake System (ABS) to enhance brake performance and prevent wheel locking due to changed road conditions or excessive braking. The 2013 Hayabusa is now equipped with radial-mount Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers with an enlarged piston diameter from 32-30mm to 32-32mm, resulting in increased initial bite to tame the Hayabusa’s incredible power. Packed with race-bred technology, the 2013 Hayabusa features Suzuki’s Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection system and a 1,340cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine providing strong power delivery and impressive torque throughout its broad powerband. Suzuki’s original Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) lets riders select one of three engine maps to suit road conditions and their riding preferences, while the slick-shifting six-speed transmission works in conjunction with the innovative Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) back-torque-limiting clutch to deliver smooth and controlled downshifts. Inverted cartridge front forks feature a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating surface treatment on the 43mm stanchion tubes to reduce friction and increase reaction to small irregularities on the road. The Hayabusa was unchanged for the 2018. It does not meet the new Euro 4 emissions standards but Suzuki could still legally sell Hayabusas in Europe until the end of 2018. The Hayabusa had a good run, but European emission standards threatened it. This time Suzuki decided to discontinue the bike rather than modify it to comply as it did in 2008. After two decades of glory, the fastest production motorcycle of the 20th century was being discontinued. The 2019 Suzuki Hayabusa will be the legendary sports bike’s final model year with no immediate plans from Suzuki for a replacement. The reason for the Hayabusa’s discontinuation is emissions standards. Motorcycles that do not comply with Euro 4 regulations cannot longer be sold in Europe or Japan. Under Euro 4, the EU allowed a two-year derogation period after its January 2017 enforcement date, which meant bikes like Suzuki’s non-compliant Hayabusa remained in showrooms right up until the end of 2019. The Hayabusa would still be legal in the USA and Australia, perhaps even in some other non-European countries. In December 2018, there were rumours that the model was discontinued, but Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
