1981 Suzuki GS 750 L

Owner: Damian Griffiths, Chicago USA

Purchaced: 2002

Comments: I bought my GS750L last year in Madison Wisconsin.
Cost me $450 + about an extra $800 for new bars (I didn't like
the chopper bars), new back tyre, brake job (seized caliper)
and several other bits and pieces... Original bargain was kind
of ruined by the extra costs but a superb example of an old
bike nonetheless with only 11,000 miles on the clock.

The first picture was taken just before its last ride before
the winter. Very cold ride. Battery had gone dead so I jumped
it from my truck.

I like it but am a bit dissapointed with it in some ways - I
always wanted a GS750 but I find the American version with higher
bars, lower seat and so on leads to it being very tiring at
high speed - I would have liked the European version more which
was much more of a street racer. Does anybody know where I can
get a flatter, unstepped seat for it? However, the GS750L is
fast, smooth, has incredible acceleration and is generally a
pretty nice bike.

I find the suspension on mine a bit soggy: my last bike but
one was an ancient Moto Guzzi V50 which you could still hammer
into bends and it was always rock solid. The GS feels a bit
soggy on tight curves and this leads me to a more "relaxed"
style of riding which I don't think goes with the engine.

It draws comments from people on the street - and it's a pretty
much standard bike. I would say that apart from the handlebars
it is 100% original. As I told you earlier, I want to replace
the stepped seat.

1981 Suzuki GS 750 L

Owner: Tony Haines,
Essex UK

Comments: My GS750L is an US import. The VIN number says
it's a 1981-year's model but my papers tell me it was put together
in '77. The clocks were '86, the engine 81, master cylinder
was something like '79... Very confusing.

I bought the bike from my presendent of my club. It belonged
to a good friend of mine for years before that...

I am trying to find out more about my bike. I have tried to
locate it on the Internet but I have yet to find anyone who
knows anything about this bike.

2001 Suzuki SV

Owner: James Chance, Savannah, GA USA

Comments: This is one of four SV's that we have. This
bike was bought used in May 2003. Race set up, stock motor,
m/4 exhaust, Vortex clipons, sprockets, Rear sets. etc. The
rider is James Chance, 17 years old (first racing season), so
far this year he has 10 wins, and as many 2nds. The bike is
a 2001 Suzuki SV standard. his number is #62 in CCS and WERA.

1986 Suzuki GS 550 EF

Owner: Mike Armstrong, Burlington, Ontario Canada
Purchased: April 2003
Mods: Yoshimura exhaust
Comments: I have two of these, one is for parts. I've
replaced the rear swingarm and shock, and some other small bits
so far. New bearings and bushings soon to come, as it's still
a little twitchy at higher speed and tight corners. It's pretty
loud (sounds great!) and once the carbs are jetted, it'll run
even better. Despite the troubles I've had with it so far, I'm
still really enjoying it!

1988 Suzuki VS 1400 Intruder

Owner: Cliff M. Danner, Woodland, California USA

Purchase Date: November 2002

Mods: Since the picture I have added Vance & Hines
Classic II pipes, had it put on a Dyno machine and tuned/re-jetted.
Besides that the rest of the bike (except for new tires) is
all stock.

Comments: This is my second Suzuki I have ever
owned, second to a 1983 Suzuki GS550L.

My Intruder is great. I bought with only 5,600 miles on it.
The original tires were still on it from back in 1988, even
the original battery. The man I got it from bought it for his
wife back in 1989 from the dealership and she never rode it
after the first couple of years. It was kept tuned up and was
garaged (until I bought it and put it in mine).

I picked it up for only $2000 because the guy's truck company
was going out of business and he was selling everything he could.

I have had people offer me as much as $8 000 for it, but I will
never sell it. I think the only other bikes that I would even
bother buying in the future besides my Intruder would be an
SV650 or an Intruder 1500.

The Intruder line of bikes are known for their reliability.
I've got 22,800 miles on mine so far and the only problem that
has come up is the negative terminal on my battery broke off.
(But thats really not part of the bike). I have heard of some
people getting over 60,000mi out of the Intruder's and I can
believe it.

If you like a true classic american look to a bike and want
power-to-burn the Suzuki Intruder 1400 is for you.
