The Suzuki Let's 4 was a popular commuter scooter in many Asian countries, particularly in Japan. It was known for its fuel efficiency, reliability, and compact size. Its engine was manufactured in China, while the scooter was assembled in Japan. It was lightweight and compact, yet has a large amount of under-seat space.
The design of the Let's 4 was friendly and fashionable with simple, familiar shape. It had rounded lamps and vertically long blinkers.
The low 685 mm seat height and slim floorboard (where feet are placed when riding the scooter) contribute to easy foot reach. The scooter was small and light. At just 59 kg, it was the lightest 50cc scooter with an under-seat trunk available in Japan.
Let's 4 was equipped with a newly developed fuel-injected four-stroke 50 cc engine. The lightweight scooter had a great fuel economy of 80 km / liter (30 km/h), The engine delivered 5 horsepower (3.7 kW) of peak power. Production of engines is done at affiliated factories in China, and assembly of car bodies is done at Toyokawa Plant in Japan.
The retail price of the bike was quite low (90,000 yen in Japan for the standard model) with a high performance engine mounted on a lightweight body but still with a personal space under the seat that can store an XL-sized full-face helmet sideways.
Suzuki Let's 4 came in several slightly different versions. There was the standard version, Let's 4, and sligthly more luxuroius Let's 4G and the top model, Let's 4 Pallet that had a completely different headlight. There was also a Let's 4 Basket – a variation of the Let's 4 model that came with a large 25-liter carriage basket at the front, a front internal pocket that can hold a 2-liter PET bottle, and an under-seat storage compartment with deodorizing and antibacterial functions.
The Let's 4 and Let's 4 Basket models were manufactured by Suzuki between October 2004 and
March 2015, when it was replaced by Let's (JBH-CA4AA).

2004 Suzuki year code: K4
In October 2004, the Let's series changed from a 4-stroke engine to a 4-stroke engine. This allowed it to meet the 2006 domestic motorcycle exhaust gas regulations, while also achieving low fuel consumption and excellent starting performance.
The "Let's 4" and "Let's 4G” models were released on October 16, 2004 as 2005 year's (K5) models.
The BA-CA41A engine was new 49cc SOHC four-stroke engine featuring a unique discharge pump fuel injection system, developed jointly by Mikuni and Suzuki.
The Let's 4G was a higher-grade model than the standard version. It came with a rear carrier for convenient luggage carrying, an anti-theft alarm and a fuel gauge for checking the remaining gasoline.
The anti-theft alarm went into standby mode when the handlebars were locked, and had two levels of operation. A low-volume warning sounded when a light impact was applied to the bike, and a continuous, loud alarm sounds when a large jolt or impact, such as releasing the center stand or moving the vehicle, was detected. The seat and handlebar grips of Let's 4G were brown-colored, differentiating it from the standard model.
A third model version, Let's 4 Pallet, was launched a couple of months later, in December 2004. It was marketed towards young women, featuring a ”dress-up” design focused on fashion and fun, with elements like a chrome-plated bar handle, a retro-chic separate speedometer, and a unique round headlight with a pipe stay. It was based on the Let's 4 G model and offered in trendy colors.
The first model year's colors were pink, light blue, orange and black.

The characters ”K5” following the model name (UZ50/UZ50G) indicate that it is a 2005 product. Subsequent models were also abbreviated as K0 until 2009, and then as L0 from 2010 onwards.

The Let's 4G, with same technical specifications as the standard model, comes standard with a theft deterrent alarm that can be set simultaneously with the handlebar lock, a fuel gauge, and a rear carrier.
The rear carrier that was fitted to the G was available as a factory option to the standrad model.
The G model had decorative stickers on the sides and the front of the body (Let's 4G, with the "4" in light blue and the "G" in silver), different meter panel design and presence of fuel gauge (fitted with a needle-type gas gauge), brown handle grips and seat, a rear carrier and an anti-theft device (built-in alarm that sounds if the vehicle is tilted while locked).
The debut model was available in three colors and priced at 119,000 yen (excluding tax). The standard Let's 4 was priced at 99,800 yen (excluding tax), so this was 19,200 yen (excluding tax) more expensive, but it was still an affordable scooter.
Let's 4G
came in three colors: yellow, black, and white. The seat and the handlebar grips were brown.
An forth color, silver metallic, was added in March 2005 (starting with frame number CA41A-123714).

The Let's 4 Palette retains all the convenient features of the Let's 4, but has been given a retro-pop makeover with a separate meter panel, chrome bar handlebars, and a cute round monocular headlight.
The Let's 4 Pallet had brown seat and handlebar grips like the Let's 4G but it didn't have its luggage carrier. It also had silver/gray wheels. Its retro-styled headlight was different from all the other models.

In November 2005, the Let's 4 and Let's 4G underwent minor changes. The color coding of the fourth digit on the odometer was changed (numbers 0–9 are now available in white, orange, and red), a cushioned insole was added to the storage space under the seat and he color of the ”4” on the decorative sticker on the higher-end G model was changed to silver, starting with this model. The material is also metallic, clearly differentiating it from the light blue of the standard model.
The color-coding of the odometer was a new feature that visually signaled the need for maintenance, such as ”if the color of the odometer's number changes, please come to a shop (to have your engine oil changed).”
The storage compartment insole was originally added to "prevent damage to luggage," but was essentially a protective cloth designed for storing a helmet. In later years, this insole was removed for cost-cutting reasons.

The 3rd generation of the Let's 4 featured subtle yet significant changes. Let's 4 models were now equipped with the JBH-CAA45A (Let's 5) 32G20 catalytic muffler, complying with the new emission regulations. Also, the K7 models were the first models to adopt rearview mirrors with 10mm threaded turners (changing from 8 mm to 10 mm) to comply with the new safety standards. The speedometer 0 km/h design was slightly altered and the exhaust guard's rear mounting bolt orientation was changed from above to from the side.
A distinctive feature is the soft cover that covers the turners at the base of the mirror mounting, creating a significantly different look around the steering wheel compared to existing vehicles. Incidentally, ”turner” refers to a shock absorber, or more simply, a rotating adapter, which rotates the base of the mirror toward the rear of the vehicle when subjected to input from the direction of travel.
The redesign of the speedometer's 0km/h display is often overlooked. At first glance, the two models appear to be identical, but the previously existing dented line design indicating 0km/h has been abolished, and the speedometer from the K7 onwards has been changed to a design where the white line depicting the speedometer scale forms a continuous circle from the 0km/h position. This change also been made both to the standard model and the higher-end G model equipped with a fuel gauge.
Another structural change to the new 32G20 muffler, which is like a game of spot the difference, is the direction in which the exhaust guard is fixed. The position and direction of the mounting bolts have been improved, making it easier to attach and remove the guard. The exhaust guard of the new 32G21 muffler, which was released in a later model change, also follows this shape.
The Let's 4 and the Let's 4G were released in January 2007. The Let's 4 was available in four colors: black, white, dark blue and bright yellow. The Let's 4G was available in black, white, silver metallic and candy red.
A limited edition Let's 4 color (Glass Silver) was released on December 1, 2007.

In March 2007, a fourth Let's 4 model was launched, the Let's 4 Basket. As the model name suggests, it has a 25-liter grocery basket attached to the front of the bike, a front internal pocket that can hold a 2-liter PET bottle, and an under-seat storage compartment with deodorizing and antibacterial functions.
The Let's 4 Basket was the first of the Let's 4 models to receive the new engine, mounted even to its siblings the following year. While its sister models har a frame number starting with CA41A, the basket model had a CA43A prefix, stating the differencel.

2008 Suzuki year code: K8
The ignition system of the Let's 4 model were changed from CDI to full transistor ignition, to comply with new exhaust gas regulations, that required a staggering 80% reduction in certain substances. Starting with this model, the exhaust gas identification symbol was updated from BA to JBH, making it possible to distinguish whether an engine is CDI ignition or full transistor ignition just by looking at the documentation.
The K8 is known for complying with the new exhaust gas regulations, its engine was originally from the 2007 Let's 4 Basket (UZ50BK7). Even the 32G21 catalytic converter muffler, a self-proclaimed catalytic converter, is technically a component derived from the Basket. The Let's 4/G, Palette, and Basket models produced until the following year's model consolidation were shipped with engines with drivetrain adjustments for 11.7 g CO2/ km specifications.
Early models,
with the light blue ”4” sticker on the side of the vehicle, were visually indistinguishable despite the frequent annual minor changes. However, the K8, equipped with a basket engine, boasts three key features that make it easily recognizable among older models: a new rearview mirror, a newly designed cylindrical O2 sensor in the exhaust pipe and a new belt and cooling duct with two exhaust ports, one above the other.
Additional colors were added to the Let's 4 in April 2008. The body was now available in ten colors (Solid Black, Solid Special White No. 2, Sweet Brown, Glass Cosmic Dark Blue, Bloom Yellow, Light Green, Mist Blue. Orchid Pink, Mystic Silver Metallic and Navel Orange).
In March 2008, the new Let's 5 series was released, incorporating a ”handle pocket” and straight lines into its rounded styling, but Suzuki continued manufacturing and marketing the Let's 4 series side by alongside Let's 5.

The Let's 4G comes standard with an anti-theft alarm with timer function, while both models share common specifications such as front and rear linked brakes, a space under the seat for storing a full-face helmet and a U-shaped lock holder, and a low fuel warning light.
The price of the standard model was increased by whopping 19,200 yen (excluding tax) from the previous year. The price of the higher-grade G was also increased, but 4,000 yen less than the standard model, bringing the prices closer to each other.
The Let's 4G model was discontinued at the end of this year, with the GK8 becoming the final G model. From then on, the combination of the ”Let's” name together with the ”G”grade designation would not be used again until the introduction of the ”Let's G” in 2014.

If there were two turning points for the Let's 4, one would be the aforementioned response to the new exhaust gas regulations of September 2007, and the other the model consolidation that took place in 2009.
The K9, the fifth model, is a Let's 4 that combines the top-of-the-line Let's 4G and the standard model. The model name was changed from "UZ50" or "UZ50G" to a new name, "UZ50D."
Notably, a needle-type fuel gauge became standard equipment. The rear carrier that was fitted to the G was not made standard equipment and remained available as a factory option.
An unmodified, K0 model is one of the easier Let's 4s to identify and distinguish among the early models. If the scooter has light blue ”4” stickers on both sides of the scooter and there is a gasoline gauge, then it's confirmed as a K9.
Suzuki added a ”D” even the other model names when merging models. The Let's II models AZ50/AZ50U/AZ50L became AZ50UD and the Let's 4 models UZ50/UZ50G became UZ50D.
Three body colors were available: black, white and silver metallic. In November 2009, a new color (Glass Cosmic Dark Blue) was added and the model was now available in four liveries.

2009 Suzuki Let's 4 Basket remained mechanically unchanged. A new color added this time is "Smoky Silver Metallic" (brownish silver), which has a warm and high-quality feel. Release Date: April 3, 2009

The 7th generation of the Suzuki Let's 4 (CA45A / UZ50DL1, early model) was released in
November 2010 with a retail price of 134,400 yen. It was a model with significant changes from the previous model.. The engine parts had been standardized and integrated across all Suzuki models that used the JBH-CA46A engine.
The changes that were officially announced and those that could be seen on the actual bike were: the original optional rear carrier was now standard equipment,
the inner mat insole for the under-seat storage space had been eliminated, the seat upholstery has been changed to one with no seams on the sides and the base part of the seat was changed to white resin. The bike also had new decals and
mirror-finish polished brake lever.
The integration of engines was implemented for all models in the 2010 Let's 4 series, and from that point on, all vehicles in the Basket, Palette, and Let's 4 series (including the fuel-injected models of sister models Let's 5/G and Address V50) were now equipped with the same engine specifications. As a result of the sharing of the entire engine, including the fuel injection and muffler, the oval muffler heat guard (a plastic cover to prevent burns), which matched the rounded silhouette, has disappeared and been replaced with a sharply angled part that was a characteristic of the Let's 5. For better or worse, this change in heat guard makes it easy to distinguish the pre- and post-integration Let's 4's.
Notice the new performance specifications; the engine delived now 4.5 hp peak power instead of the earlier 5,0 hp.
The ”Let's 4” lettering is now a vibrant yellow, a departure from the previous light blue. The "Fuel Injection" section below the vehicle name has been completely removed, resulting in a simpler design. With the introduction of this new emblem, the Let's 4 Basket/Palette exclusive trim was discontinued, and all models will now feature the ”Let's 4” emblem.
The price increase from the existing model was 4,000 yen (excluding tax). At the time, the price of the genuine optional rear carrier was 2,000 yen (excluding tax), so about half of the price increase can be interpreted as the cost of the carrier.

In July 2010, the L0 model of the Suzuki Let's 4 Basket (UZ5OBLO) was released.
The 25-liter front basket was equipped with a roll-up shutter, allowing for neat storage of shopping bags. The basket was also designed to be low, making it easy to load and unload luggage. The Let's 4 Basket also had a front inner rack that could hold 2-liter PET bottles, a bag holder with a stopper (hooks for large combi bikes) for hanging shopping bags and other items and a deodorizing mat and antibacterial pack in the trunk.
Side turn signals were installed on both sides of the front basket for better visibility. Reflective tape was also used on the sides of the basket, to improve visibility at night. A headlight was installed below the front basket, ensuring its light was not blocked even when the basket is fully loaded.
A rear carrier with a large grip made it easy to put the bike on the center stand.

Let's 4 Pallet was a special version based on the standard version of the Let's 4. It was equipped with a theft deterrent alarm and plated bar handle, round head light supported by pipe stay, separate speed meter. In this minor change, the rear carrier was replaced with a large grip type with the Let's 4 basket and the handle cover was changed to the same body color.

2011 Suzuki year code: L1
The Let's 4 underwent some changes in May 2011. All the model versions had now the same kind of large grip-equipped rear carrier, similar to that was earlier used in the Let's 4 Basket. The rear carrier featured a hook that can be gripped with your hand when putting down the center stand. It originated as standard equipment on the Let's 4 Basket. All three Let's 4 series rear carriers are now standardized with a hook-equipped rear carrier.
Also, all the models had now black wheels.
Suzuki even changed the design of the speedometer panel. The new white meter panel also came from the Let's 4 Basket. Changes to the color tone, font, size, and placement of the letters improved visibility. This meter integration also extends to the sister models, the UZ50X and Address V50FI. However, the new white panel is quite different in style from the at the time existing V50FI's meter panel, which was rather masculine and sporty, while the Let's 4 speedo panel was more feminine in style.
In line with the above-mentioned meter panel changes, a turn signal indicator had been installed on the meter panel. The indicator light helped prevent forgetting to turn it off.
The conventional rearview mirror turner cover (shaped like a stump), which was difficult to fix due to its structure and prone to shifting out of place, was eliminated. The new cover was thick and long enough to securely enclose the turner and nut.
The body colors were four: black, white, brown, silver metallic.

Even the Let's 4 Basket underwent some changes in May 2011. The Let's 4 Basket had silver colored wheels up to the frame number CA43A-125916 and black wheels from frame number CA43A-125917 (see the images above).
The deodorizing mat and antibacterial pack in the trunk was discontinued. The coloring was renewed. As already mentioned, the color of the front and rear wheels was changed from silver to black. The Let's 4 Basket was now available in three colors: Glass Bernard Red, Ivory, and Sweet Brown.
Although the updated model that was presented in May 2011 was clearly a 2011 year's model, the parts catalog, where the images were found, stated that it was 2010 year's model (UZ50BL0). I believe it was simply a typo.

Let's 4 Pallet was a special version based on the standard version of the Let's 4. It was equipped with a theft deterrent alarm and plated bar handle, round head light supported by pipe stay, separate speed meter. In this minor change, the rear carrier was replaced with a large grip type with the Let's 4 basket and the handle cover was changed to the same body color.

2012 Suzuki year code: L2
The L2 model of the Let's 4 was released in December 2011. The body color options were now four: the new color ”Bloom Yellow” and the existing colors Mystic Silver Metallic, Solid Black and Solid Special White No.2.
In April 2012,
two new bright Let's 4 colors were launched, the special bright shades of Orchid Pink and Navel Orange. In December 2012, a metallic red color was added and the white livery discontinued. The body colors were four (Solid Black, Bloom Yellow, Mystic Silver Metallic, Candy Sonoma Red).
This model continued to be produced unchanged, apart from adding and changing body colors. The Let's 4 models shipped by Suzuki between 2012 and 2014 were all of L2 models.

The standard Let's 4 already had quite low (685 mm) seat height, but for shorter riders (between 140 and 150 cm), the standard wide seat didn't offer good foot reach.
A special edition of the Let's 4 with even lower seat was launched in December 2012. It was sold only at a limited number of stores. The scooter was fitted with a low seat provided by Suzuki Business/Auto Remessa, and no official announcement was made by the manufacturer.
The Auto Remessa's low seat lowers the seating position by 13 mm compared to the stock model, and by shaving down the area where the inner thighs come into contact, it improves foot reach and achieves a low seating position of 672 mm.

The consumption tax was first introduced in Japan in April 1989, initially at a rate of 3%. It was subsequently increased to 5% in April 1997, 8% in April 2014, and 10% in October 2019.
This is the final production model of the UZ50D/CA45A Let's 4. However, as the model year code remains ”L2,” registered in the fall of 2011, no modifications were made tothe model, or at least officially announced. The only change made to the final shipment of the late L2 model was the addition of a cowling fan cover. All final production units, delivered to dealers nationwide from early spring 2014, in all colors, were updated to feature the cowling fan cover.
Cowling fan cover was an official optional part offered by Suzuki Genuine Parts (SGP), a partition plate for quickly raising the engine oil temperature. It was designed with consideration for the short distance and short duration riding in mind, and by installing it (omitted) it would suppress the occurrence of minor problems that were unique to models equipped with air-cooled, 4-stroke, small displacement engines.
The cowling fan cover was a genuine part that normally costs 1,350 yen including tax, but this amount is not reflected in the sales price of the L2 late model vehicle. It is being offered at what is known as a "fixed price."
Among last year's models, the exterior color Mist Blue was changed to Kiddy Yellow, and four colors were added: Ivory No. 2, Sweet Brown No. 2, and Candy Brown No. 2. Candy Sonoma Red became. There were no changes in the main characteristics.
