Super Free 90 (F90) was a 88cc business bike that, according to Suzuki, combined the ease of riding of a scooter with the performance of a motorcycle. It was not as long-lived model as it siblings, t was launched for the 1970 season and discontinued in 1973.
Suzuki developed the Super Free 90 as a new type of business motorcycle that combined the ease of riding of a scooter with the riding stability of a motorcycle. It featured a fuel tank integrated into the frame and small 14-inch tires. It also had large leg shields to prevent clothing from getting dirty. The bike had a luggage carrier above the front wheel and another
behind the seat.
The
Super Free 90/F90 had a 88cc air-cooled single-cylinder 2-stroke, engine. It utilized Suzuki's unique reed valve system ”resulting in excellent torque and acceleration performance, especially from low to medium speeds”. It delivered peak power of
7.5 hp (5.5 kW) at 6,500 rpm.
New features such as a safety lamp that could be switched on at dusk and a turn signal buzzer that works in conjunction with the turn signals have been incorporated to enhance safety.
The Super Free 90 was available with of without electric starter.
At the time of the introduction of the Suzuki F90, its retail price in Japan was
83,000 yen for the version without the electric starter and 90,000 yen for the version with the electric strater.
The prices of both model versions went up by
1,000 yen in 1972.
The standard version was called F90, the version with the electric started was called F90D.
There was also a
third version, made for the Postal Service, called F90MD.
