1966 Suzuki U50, U50D and U70 brochure from Japan (2 pages).
Click to enlarge. The 47cc 2-strokes U50, U50D (with electric starter) and the 69cc U70 were launched in October 1966. The following version of the U50 engine had a slightly larger cylinder displacement (49cc). The U50 was the first Suzuki 50cc to use a rotary disc valve. The transmission was a rotary-change 3-speed that could be returned to neutral with one touch from top. It also adopted a primary kick system that allowed it to be started with the clutch disengaged regardless of the gear position, making it easy and comfortable for even beginners to ride. It became the basis for the later development of Suzuki Super Free and then Suzuki Birdie. Printed in Japan, October 1966 (Showa 41). |

1969 Suzuki U50 ”Suzy” brochure from United Kingdom (2 pages).
Click to enlarge. This brochure was scanned and sent
to me by Alan Shepherd, Scotland. It's a bit strange one, with a picture of a Suzuki T-250 on the front and U50 ”Suzy” on the back side. I don't know if these two pages are a part of a larger catalogue/brochure. |
