I have put tried to tell the Suzuki ST 250 model history on this page as I know it. 2004 Suzuki year code: K4

The Japanese customers are offered some retro design Suzukis that are not available in Europe. One of them is the ST 250, first shown on Tokyo Motor Show in 2003. It has a 250cc single cylinder four-stroke engine with two valves per cylinder, traditional suspension and tubular steel frame. A direct plating processing to the aluminum cylinder inner wall called SCEM (Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material) is used for light weight and heat resistance. Otherwise it's a traditional motorcycle with classic looks, no more or less. There's a big market for bikes like the ST250 in Asia, while the customers here in Europe don't even get a change to see those simple bikes with cool design. The bike was formally introduced to the Japanese domestic market in December 2003 for model year 2004 as the ST250 and ST250 E-Type, the latter being a more exclusice model, including a two-tone fuel tank, polished engine, chromed exhaust pipe and headlight housing, CDI ignition and a kick starter as well as electric starter. ST250 colors: Pearl White (HV7), Solid Black (019) ST250 E type colors: Solid Black / White (YAY), Pearl Dark Space Blue / White (Y7H) A few months later, the 28th of April, two more Limited Color versions of the ST250E were released by Suzuki Japan: Sonic Silver Metallic/Based Blue Metallic (BBV) and Cashew Beige (1PD). Both Limites Edition models were also available as a dealer customized versions. The Silver/Blue version (called Type C) could be bought with a 1960s style top fairing and number plate holder, giving the bike a nostalgic café racer look. The silver/blue version was called Type C. To meet the modern exhaust gas regulations, the ST250 was equipped with a new fuel injection system. From this point on, only the E-type, which only an electric starter, was available in the lineup. Although elimination of the kick starter saved some weight, the significant modifications to the engine and the exhaust system made the bike sligtly heavier. While retaining the 249cc air-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder OHC 2-valve engine, the intake and exhaust systems have been significantly modified to tackle the strict exhaust gas regulations of the time. The kick starter has been omitted in exchange for the FI system, but a new ”3-way catalyst” has been installed in the area where the heat shield has been added to the muffler, purifying the harmful components of the exhaust gas through a chemical reaction that utilizes heat. The frame color of the ST250 was has changed from black to silver, and the graphics on the tank as well as the depth of the base color seem to have been upgraded. The final edition of the ST250. Three body colors were available: Fox Orange Metallic / Glass Sparkle Black, Pearl Mirage White / Glass Sparkle Black, and Glass Midnight Brown. Suzuki Japan ceased the production of ST250 (Japanese domestic market version of the European TU250X) in September 2017 due to stricter emission standard.
