The Suzuki GSX-8S is an all-new naked sports bike, revealed at at Eicma motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, in November 2022. It was launched simultaneously with the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE all terrain bike. They both use a brand-new 776cc, DOHC, parallel twin engine with 270° crank, designed to deliver punchy torque and a flexible character. They also share the steel frame, with each using a bespoke subframe, swingarm, and suspension components for unique ergonomics and riding experience. As standard, each comes with a five-inch full-colour TFT dash, a three-mode traction control system, bi-directional quickshifter, selectable power modes, and a slipper clutch. While the V-Strom 800DE is aimed for off-road/all terrain, the GSX-8S is a naked, streetfighter-type sports bike –made for be ridden on tarmac. It has wide, tapered aluminium handlebars providing a sporty riding position. The GSX-8S’s chassis features upside down front forks and a rear shock from KYB, and a new aluminium swingarm with a unique shape, designed for rigidity and stability. Twin 310 mm discs up front and a 240 mm rear disc provide the stopping power. These components all fit to a new frame engineered for direct handling characteristics, with a light – and painted – subframe helping keep weight low and aid the design of a sharp seat unit. A five-inch, full-colour TFT screen includes speedometer, rev counter, clock, gear indicator, and dual trip computers. It also shows riding range and the current settings the rider has chosen for the various advanced rider aid, including a three-mode traction control system – which can be turned off – three selectable engine maps, and a bi-directional quickshifter for slick gear changes. There’s also a ride-by-wire throttle, Suzuki’s Easy Start System, and a low rpm assist. Although the V-Strom 800DE and the GSX-8S use the same engine, the performance figures restened by Suzuki, are slighly different. The peak torque is 78Nm for both models, but the claimed peak power is 82.9 hp for the GSX-8S while the V-Strom 800DE produces 84.3 hp. The styling of the GSX-8S is quite modern and aggressive with its stacked hexagonal LED headlights and running lights. The minimalist bodywork, wrapped around the slim engine, is angular and futuristic. The exhaust system features a short new muffler design, barely rising up and out from the right side of the engine. The 2023 model has light blue wheels and subframe on two of the three available colour options. New liveries but unchanged mechanically. The blue version remained the same but the black version got blue wheels and blue frame. The Glass Mat Mechanical Gray (QT7) livery was new all together. Technically unchaged but with new colors. The blue version has now black wheels and black frame. The black version has red wheels and red frame.
