Suzuki lauched the AE50 scooter in Japan in December 1985, with a model name ”Hi” (Japanese for 'Yes' but I don't know if that was the meaning of the model name, could be just the greeting, equivalent to 'Hello'). It was a lightweight (48 kg/106 lbs) scooter with 10-inch wheels, a powerful (6.5 bhp) 2-stroke engine and
The first models had very colorful livery, using striking 2-tone colors with the second color matching the wheels, floor, mirror and handlebar grips.
The Hi-R debuted in 1987 as the successor to the Hi. Its suspension has been refined with anti-nose dive suspension and high-grip tires. The rear spoiler and unique front fenders are also exclusive to the Hi-R. |
