The model name ”Wolf” have been used many times by Suzuki. The ”Wolf” (with no other letters or numbers in its model name) was a fun-to-ride leisure bike from the early eighties. It was equipped with fat tires like the RV50/VanVan but technically the Wolf had more in common with bikes like OR50 or TS50 Hustler. Unlike the RV50/VanVan, the Wolf used the same upright engine and was equipped with the same kind of steel tube cradle frame.
The Wolf was aimed for Suzuki's domestic customers. It was suited for a wide range of riding conditions, from city streets and the suburbs to sandy or grassy ground. Long-stroke front and rear suspensions combined with a lightweight and highly rigid cradle frame gave it stable running performance even on rough roads. The 50cc air-cooled 2-stroke single-cylinder engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It was called by Suzuki an ”adventure bike that you can play in nature”.
Suzuki Wolf (LA11A) was released in March 1982 and was available in red, white and yellow. Later a blue color option was added. No other changes were made after the introduction of the model.
The Wolf was a shortlived model. It was discontinued after four years of production (1982–1986) , but in 1989, the name ”Wolf” reappeared. The Wolf 50 (NA11A), released in 1989, was a naked sports bike that looked nothing like the fat tire Wolf. |
