2018—
I have tried to tell the story of the Suzuki GSX-R 125 on this page as I know it.
I would be grateful of any contributions sales brochures, magazine ads,
magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material
in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send
them to me. Please tell me the source and the publication date if possible.
If you send me pictures of your own bike, please follow these

The all new GSXR125 was lauched in Europe in September 2017, at the same time as the fully faired GSX-R125. Both bikes got the same 124.4cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC four-stroke engine with 14.75 hp (10.8 kW) at 10 000 rpm, 11.5 Nm (1.2 kgf-m or 8.5 ft.lbs) @ 8 000 rpm.
It's a punchy high revving engine with linear power delivery all the way to its 11 500 rpm redline. The bike is light, sporty and ecenomical.
The GSX-R125 has an aggressive look and a high-quality finish that reflects the heritage of the GSX-R line. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox, telescopic forks up front and mono shock at the rear. The motorcycle offers features like LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp as well as a fully-digital instrument cluster and ABS as standard. The headlights are stacked vertically, with the low beam above the high beam, and position lights on each side of the headlight.
The Suzuki GSX-R125 features quite advanced rider technology, including a new key-less ignition system, and Suzuki Easy Start System. The rider can start the engine without putting the key in the ignition if the compact key is close enough to the motorcycle. Therefore, the rider doesn't have to fumble to retrieve the compact key from a pocket or backpack. The Easy Start System automatically starts the engine with one touch of the starter button mounted in the switch module on the right handlebar. There's no need to hold the button down until the engine fires or to pull the clutch lever in to start the engine, as long as the transmission is in neutral.

2021 Suzuki year code: M1
As with many other motorcycle models, not just the GSX-R125, there were less 2021 models sold in Europe, partly because of the Covid-19 pandemic, partly because of the new strict emission regulations. From 1st January 2021 every new bike sold in the European Union was ment to comply with the next-generation 'Euro 5' emissions rules. Some motorcycle models could sail through the tests with minimal modifications but many others need extensive updates to meet the new rules
Under EU type-approval rules, all Euro 4 motorcycles needed to be registered before the application of the environmental Euro 5 step on 1 January 2021. But this requirement was impossible to achieve as a result of the drop on sales caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall the global market for all types of vehicles was significantly affected by the economic repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
EU type-approval rules foresaw a flexibility mechanism called “end of series”, which allowed manufacturers to continue making available on the market, register or enter into service a limited part of their stock of Euro 4 vehicles. However, this flexibility clause was not sufficient to address the problem of extra vehicle stock created by the sudden outbreak of the virus.
The new Suzuki GSX-R125 colour is a dual-tone option; Stronger Red / Titan Black. The fuel tank, bottom and front part of the fairing have been finished in red. Suzuki has also used black in the fairing, rear cowl, and front fender. The side-mounted exhaust and alloy wheels are black.Apart from the introduction of the new color, Suzuki has made no other changes in the 2021 GSX-R125.
The GSX-R125 received four colour schemes for 2021. The colors are:
Metallic Triton Blue / Solarise Silver (B57), Metallic Triton Blue (YSF), Titan Black (YVU), Stronger Red / Titan Black (GTA)

2022 Suzuki year code: M2
The 2022 version of the GSX-R125 had minor cosmetic updates and modifications to the engine, to homologate the bike for the new Euro 5 emissions regulations.
The new bike gets a redesigned exhaust system that features a dual exit muffler, as well as a larger catalytic converter; an expanded air box (4.3 litres) and a larger (32mm) throttle body.
It holds the same performance as the previous model, with almost 15 horsepower and 11.5 Nm of torque, delivered via a six-speed, constant mesh gearbox.
The 2022 GSX-R125 was available in Europe in two colors: the signature MotoGP blue with the bold, white SUZUKI graphic adorning the fairing (now with a black cover under the motor), as well as a black and grey take on the trademark design, offset by red wheels (unchanged from the previous year).
The names of the colors are Metallic Triton Blue (YSF) and Titan Black (YVU).
