2020 Suzuki Gixxer 250 (GSX250R), the color options in Guatemala

The Suzuki Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 (GSX250FR) was introduced in India in May 2019. Three months later, in August 2019, a naked version, the Gixxer 250 (GSX250R), was added to the lineup. These quarter-litre motorbikes helped Suzuki to find a grip in the 250 cc segment in the country. Both bikes were equipped with a 248cc single cylinder, four-valve, single overhead cam engine with Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS), a fully-digital instrument console and an all-LED setup for lighting. The Gixxer SF 250 was very similar to its little brother, 155cc Gixxer SF, introduced in September 2014. The name of the model series derives from a nickname used for Suzuki's GSX-R series of bikes. Suzuki launched the India-made Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 in Japan in March 2020, although the production and deliveries of the bikes were been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Gixxer 250 was launched in India, where it was manufactured, in August 2019. It was about 11,000 rupees cheaper that the full-faired SF version. The sculptured fuel tank with extended shrouds and the LED headlamp gives the bike a masculine look, the split seat sand LED taillight add a topuch of sportiness to the motorcycle. It came with the Gixxer's distinctive dual muffler exhaust, brushed alloy wheels and an all-digital instrument console. A renge of accessories like a skid plate, DC chagging socket, knuckle cover, saddle bags, tank pad kvee grip and a bumper bracket weas offered by Suzuki. 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 250 was available in two colors: Metallic Mat Black No.2 (YKV), Metallic Matte Platinum Silver / Metallic Mat Black No.2 (BV2)

Suzuki launched the BS6 versions (BS = Bharat Stage emission norms for cleaner exhausts on vehicles) of the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 in India in May 2020. In comparison to the BS4 versions, the BS6 version of Gixxer 250 is now 3,400 rupees more expensive The new Suzuki Gixxer 250 and SF 250 come with an updated BS6-compliant 249cc engine which generates 26.5hp of power at 9,300rpm and 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7,300rpm. For transmission duties, both motorcycles get a six-speed manual gearbox. Both models come equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding on the roads while braking. To manage suspension duties, the motorcycles house telescopic forks on the front and a mono-shock unit on the rear. The new colour shade includes a combination of Triton Blue and Silver for the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. On the other hand, the naked Gixxer 250 was introduced with Triton Blue colour with Suzuki's trademark racing graphics to enhance the racing appeal of the motorcycle. The 2019 colors were still being sold in some countries. Moving on to the 155cc segment, the Gixxer, and Gixxer SF has been relaunched with added Gixxer graphics that will shout out for its sportier aesthetics. Most striking of the colours in the Pearl Mira Red colour on the Gixxer 155 series of motorcycles. Another option that customers could opt for is Metallic Triton Blue on both the bikes. In october 2021, Suzuki launched the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF250 in Vietnam. It was the first time Suzuki was launching a 250 cc motorcycle in that market. The colors offered in Mexico were Metallic Triton Blue (QHV) and Metallic Matte Black No.2 (YKV). I Columbia, the colors offered were the original version colors Metallic Matte Black No.2 (YKV) and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver No.2 / Metallic Matte Black No.2 (BV2).

No changes were made to the 2022 model. But in India, motorcycle wheel cover at the rear became a mandatory fitment from October 2020. Every motorcycle which has provision for a pillion rider should come equipped with a permanent hand grip and footrests — and a protective panel or disc that covers at least half the rear wheel to prevent clothes or any accessory of the pillion rider from getting entangled.

In India, motorcycle wheel cover at the rear became a mandatory fitment from October 2020. Every motorcycle which has provision for a pillion rider should come equipped with a permanent hand grip and footrests — and a protective panel or disc that covers at least half the rear wheel to prevent clothes or any accessory of the pillion rider from getting entangled. That's why the funny looking guard is attached at the rear wheel on the bike in the pictures below.

In most countries, where the model was available, the Gixxer 250 remained unchanged. Even the colour options were the same: Matte Stellar Blue (YUA), Metallic Matte Black No. 2 (YKV) In India, the Gixxer was upgraded. The new version of this popular 250cc sportbike now meets the new and upcoming OBD-2B (On-Board Diagnostics) emissions standards, ensuring better environmental compliance. The new specification which applies to bioethanol up to 85% has been added. By improving the fuel injector, fuel pump, and fuel filter, users can use wide range of bio-ethanol fuel. Because bio-ethanol fuel derives from plants, it contributes to the reduction of CO2 compared to the conventional fossil fuel. The claimed peak power of the engine has increased a notch. Using different fuel results to slightly different numbers. Additionally, the 2025 model got new colour options in India. The Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 now come in three colour choices: Metallic Mat Black No.2 (YKV), Metallic Mat Black No.2 / Metallic Mat Bordeaux Red (CUU), and Metallic Triton Blue / Pearl Glacier White (AGQ). In August 2025, Suzuki India issued a recall for over 5,000 units of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250S. This recall was related to the faulty rear brake assembly of this quarter-litre bike range.

In March 2026, Suzuki launched new color scheme for the 250cc road sport Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF250. The naked Gixxer 250 was now available in three new colors: Glass Sparkle Black / Triton Blue Metallic (KEL), Pearl Glacier White / Matt Platinum Silver Metallic No.2 (DDG), and Glass Sparkle Black (YVB). The full-cowl Gixxer SF250 continues to be available in the sporty Triton Blue Metallic / Pearl Glacier White (AGQ), while offering the same two colors as the model, Pearl Glacier White / Matt Platinum Silver Metallic No.2 (DDG) and the intrepid Glass Sparkle Black (YVB). No changes in functionality. The Gixxer 250 series was powered by a 249cc single-cylinder engine, using Suzuki's unique SOCS (Suzuki Oil Cooling System) oil-cooling system, which utilizes engine oil as a cooling medium. This power unit achieves efficient cooling by installing oil passages around the periphery of the combustion chamber, and delivers acceleration performance with maximum output of 26 kW and maximum powerful torque of 2.2 kgf-m, as well as excellent fuel economy of 44.5 km/L (at 60 km/h constant). The naked model Gixxer 250 is equipped with a compact, thin LED headlamp for nimble handling. In contrast, the full-cowl Gixxer SF250 has a sporty silhouette with a forward leaning design and a wide LED headlamp. Both models have voluminous fuel tanks, front and rear split seats, and swingarm-mounted rear fenders, giving them a presence beyond their class. In terms of functionality, the new models inherit the convenience features of the Suzuki Easy Start system, which allows one-push starting, and a full-digital LCD meter with an reliable RPM indicator for shift timing. The suspension features 41mm-diameter front forks and a rear suspension with seven levels of preload adjustment, while front and rear disc brakes with ABS as standard equipment provide stopping power.

In September 2026, Suzuki India updated the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF250 models with a new Glass Sparkle Black colour scheme, with Metallic Oort Gray highlights. New color: Glass Sparkle Black / Metallic Oort Gray (AJM).
