I have tried to tell the Suzuki FX 125 model history here as I know it. The page is still under construction. The Suzuki FX125 is an underbone motorcycle manufactured in Malaysia. It was launched in 1998. It was sold mostly in Malaysia and Vietnam, and in small numbers in New Zealand and Greece. The FX125 had a a powerful 125 cc (7.6 cu in) DOHC four-valve single-cylinder four-stroke engine. This engine was of the same design as the 150 cc (9.2 cu in) engine which powers the Suzuki FXR150 sports bike and another underbone, the Suzuki Raider 150. The engine featured Suzuki Advanced Cooling System, in which oil as well as air was used to cool the engine. The engine was fitted with an external oil cooler. Unlike the FXR150 and Raider 150, which had a six-speed manual transmission, the FX125 and Raider 125 engines had a five-speed short gear ratio manual transmission. The frame, rear suspension, seat, front wheel and front brakes were identical to that of the Raider 150. Other features included rear monoshock rear suspension, lightweight chassis construction, 17-inch alloy cast wheels (spoked wheels model was also available) and a front disc brake, most of which were rarely found in underbones at that time. The dash unit had an analogue speedometer and indicator lights for the turn signal, high beam, top gear and neutral.

When it was first launched in 1998, the Suzuki FX125 was, in its class, ahead of its time. In Malaysia, Suzuki FX125 was the first 4-stroke bike to come with a 5-speed manual transmission (also called a wet or dead clutch), including a flip-up transmission shift (1 down, 4 up). Not only that, the FX125 featured DOHC technology and an oil cooling system. The FX125 was released in the same year that Yamaha released its legendary 2-stroke bike, the 125Z. Perhaps because of the 4-stroke characteristics, known for being slower and less 'fierce' than 2-strokes, Suzuki FX125 was less popular than Yamaha. In addition, it was quite expensive. 1998 Suzuki FX125 colors (Malaysia): Jasper Green (hijau jasper), Metallic Purple (ungu metalik). The big brother, Suzuki FXR150, was also available in Metallic Silver (perak metalik).

Suzuki FX125 was available with 17-inch alloy cast wheels or spoked wheels, depending on the specific regional trim level rather than the model year.
