Suzuki Birdy 70 / FR70

I would be grateful of any contributions sales brochures, magazine ads,
magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material
in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send

| Suzuki Birdy 70 / FR70 replaced its predececcor Free 70 / F70 in 1973 and in its turn was replaced by the Birdie 80 / FR80 in 1976. |

The Suzuki FR70 scooterette had its roots in the 1960's M30 Suzy Mokick that in time became
the F50 and FR50, along with versions with larger engines. Suzuki Birdy 70 / FR70 replaced its predececcor Free 70 / F70 in 1973 and in its turn was replaced by the Birdie 80 / FR80 in the summer of 1976. The FR80 was sold, virtually unchanged,
for about a decade.
The FR70 shared the specifications with its little brother, the FR50. The difference was the piston displacement and power/performance. Both FR models had a 3-speed semi-automatic gearbox, with a heel-and-toe gear shift. The single cylinder 2-stroker incorporated a self-mixing system (the Suzuki CCI system) so it had a separate two-stroke oil tank and petrol tank. |

1973 Suzuki year code: K

| At least in Japan, the Birdie 70 was available in two versions, with or without electric starter. The export model had a long seat, while the domestic version had a single saddle and a chorme-plated rear carrier. |
