Suzuki GSX150 Bandit

With the introduction of the Suzuki GSX150 Bandit, Suzuki returned the classic model name Bandit to its lineup. The Bandit 150 is a light model for the Asian market, a modern-looking naked bike that is a counterpart to the successful Yamaha MT-15, a popular bike in Asia. GSX150 Bandit engine can produce 18.9 hp at 10 500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 9 000 rpm. In comparison, the Yamaha MT-15 sold in India delivers 17.9 hp at 10 000 rpm and 13.9 Nm at 8 500 rpm, making the Suzuki slightly stronger, a key factor in the Asian sales race. Since 1989, the Suzuki GSF Bandit has been a success in Europe, with versions with 600/650 and 1200/1250 cc engines. The naked Bandit modes were followed by the GSX-S models, but they didn't become as popular as the Bandits were. The all new Suzuki GSX150 Bandit was introduced at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Jakarta, Indonesia, in August 2018. It was designed to be a sporty daily commuter to cater with a single-piece seat and a relaxed riding position. The baby Bandit carried a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 147.3 cc engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The same power plant was used in the GSX-R150. Notice that the specifications, even the claimed peak power of the Suzuki GSX150 Bandit, can vary between different countries and markets. The naked motorcycle featured chiselled Multi-LED headlamp unit with body-coloured headlamp shrouds, integrated flyscreen, central-locking system for both ignition and fuel tank, hazard lamps, muscular fuel tank with angular tank shrouds, body-coloured aerodynamic belly pan, ergonomic scooped seat, upright handlebar Y-spoked alloy wheels, upswept exhaust and an alloy grab rail behind the seat. The sub-frame on the GSX150 Bandit was different from its sportier sibling, the GSX-S150, to accommodate the single-piece seat that places the rider lower to the ground, at 785 mm (30.9 in). Its fuel tank capacity was 11 litres (2.90 US gal. / 2.43 Imp gal.) and inside the cockpit was a digital-LCD backlit instrumentation console. The claimed fuel efficiency of the GSX-150 Bandit was 37.45 km/l (88.1 mpg). The dry mass of the GSX150 Bandit was 135 kg and braking done with single 290 mm hydraulic disc at the front and a 187 mm disc at the back. ABS isn’t offered. Its suspension uses a telescopic fork in front and a Showa monoshock at the rear. The Suzuki GSX150 Bandit was officially launched in Indonesia in October 2018. Apparently its rivals in Indonesia were bikes like Honda CB150 Verza, Yamaha Byson FI, Honda CB150 SF and Yamaha V-Ixion. Produced in Indonesia to cater to the Indonesian market, the 150 Bandit also shipped to Thailand in 2019 and the following year in in other East-Asian countries like Taiwan and Japan.
